FAQs

Below is a list of frequently asked questions and the answers we have. If you have more questions feel free to contact us at info@birdpepperstudios.com

  • Animation is the technique of photographing successive drawings or positions of puppets or models to create a sequence of images that when played right after the other create the illusion of movement. Most commonly animation utilizes 24 images known as frames for every second of video footage.

  • Yes!!!!!!!! Please trust us!!! PLEASE!

  • Every animated project is different depending on what is needed. The simplest animated video might take as little as 2 to 3 weeks, but it is important to note that this is for the most simple and shortest animation you can imagine.

An episode of a series with full motion and fx might take around 2 to 3 months just for the animation and that may not include pre-production.

If you need the animation sooner than is standard it is sometimes possible to increase the number of workers on a project which will allow us to complete it quicker, however, to do so the price for the project will go up to accommodate more staff and possible delays to other projects.

To give you a more precise estimate there is some information we will need from you and based on your needs and what you already have we will let you know what we can do for you.

  • All Animation is just a sequence of images when played right after the other they create the illusion of movement

The 6 main types of animation are:

    1. 2D Hand Drawn/Traditional Animation

    2. 2D Cutout Animation

    3. 3D Animation

    4. Motion Capture

    5. Motion Graphics

    6. Stop Motion

The type of animation used is partly due to preference but can also be influenced by budget and timelines as the different types of animation carry different costs and pipelines and take different amounts of time.

  • There are 3 major stages to an animated project

    1. Pre Production

    2. Production

    3. Post Production

Each of these stages has different aspects to them and is heavier or lighter based on the type of project and the needs of the clients.

During pre-production, the script is created by a writer based on the concept from the client and then a storyboard is made from the script that outlines every part of the animation, this allows us to know how many characters, backgrounds/environments, and props we will need, which are then designed and depending on the type of animation these things might need to be modeled and rigged. During this phase, the characters' voice lines are recorded if required.

Production is the stage during which everything is animated, including characters, backgrounds, props, and effects. After all the animation is finished we move on to post-production.

Post-production is the stage of production where everything is edited together and composited to make the final video.

During each of these phases, it is important to have communication between the client and the production so that everyone is on the same page and the client gets what they need from the project.

  • Motion graphics is a subset of animation and is essentially ‘graphics with movement’ and can also be referred to as motion design. When talking about motion graphic design, creatives are referring to the combination of text and design elements set to motion. Motion Graphics generally refers to a short piece of animation that entertains or imparts information.
